Hydrometallurgical Silver Refinery Engineering Study

Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining engaged trajectorE to conduct an engineering study for the development of a modern hydrometallurgical flowsheet for silver extraction and recovery. The study was intended to establish a practical technical and economic basis for advancing the project into further engineering while reducing technical and execution uncertainty.

trajectorE completed a technical evaluation of the proposed process, developed process design criteria in collaboration with the client, completed a detailed heat and mass balance using METSIM modelling, and prepared process flowsheets, mechanical equipment selection, and preliminary plant layout concepts. The team also evaluated existing site infrastructure and assets to identify opportunities for reuse and refurbishment requirements. The study established the overall technical viability of the proposed facility including the development of AACE Class 5 capital and operating cost estimates.

The completed study provided Sunshine Silver with a strong technical and economic foundation for advancing the project into the next phase of engineering. The final report was well received and provided clarity around process design, refinery redevelopment opportunities, and future execution considerations. Based on the study's findings and recommendations, the project subsequently progressed into more detailed engineering.
