As an Electrical and Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering on technical and engineering aspects of design studies, operational performance support and execution projects for various clients. Your role will involve interfacing with clients, providing engineering support, managing small projects and ensuring that projects are completed safely, within scope, budget, and timeline, while ensuring a high level of quality.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and team members to align project goals and expectations;

  • Adopting the HSE and quality culture and promote correct behavior both inside and outside the organization;

  • Develop project plans/studies, including scope, objectives, engineering deliverables, and timelines;

  • Cooperating and communicating with the project manager and other project participants to create more efficient project methods;

  • Reviewing engineering tasks and initiating the necessary corrective actions to mitigate risks and issues;

  • Developing specifications for the project's needed equipment;

    Ensuring the project's compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, regulatory requirements and specifications;

  • Conducting engineering reviews, designs and estimates in area of electrical engineering, instrumentation and controls;

  • Preparing written reports and ensure quality delivery that meets internal and external quality standards;

  • Coordinating project activities to ensure successful execution;

  • Performing quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and reporting on the project's status;

  • Project management tasks including manage project progress, budgets, track expenses, and provide regular financial reports;

  • Develop electrical maintenance tactics, including standard work instructions (or similar), maintenance plans, task lists, Bill of Materials (BOMs), conduct internal review of documentation, technical support to team, etc.;

  • Provide design and technical expertise input in plant and electrical equipment design specifications and documentation for client construction and commissioning projects;

  • Monitor, identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle;

  • Implement effective change management procedures to accommodate project modifications;

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering;

  • Professional engineering certification;

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering practice;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members;

  • Proven track record of as a member of a project management team for studies or capital projects;

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to handle complex issues and conflicts;

  • Previous operating, commissioning, maintenance or operating experience in a mining or related resource processing industry;

  • Commissioning and Operational Start-up experience would be ideal;

  • Experience in Control System programming would be an asset;

  • Project management experience in engineering consulting or related industries;

  • Leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and motivating project teams;

  • Understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices;

  • Certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) would be ideal;

  • Experience with configuring and operating CMMS systems. SAP would be ideal.
