As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering on technical and engineering aspects of design studies, operational performance support and execution projects for various clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and team members to align project goals and expectations;

  • Adopting the HSE and quality culture and promote correct behavior both inside and outside the organization;

  • Develop project plans/studies, including scope, objectives, engineering deliverables, and timelines;

  • Cooperating and communicating with the project manager and other project participants to create more efficient project methods;

  • Reviewing engineering tasks and initiating the necessary corrective actions to mitigate risks and issues;

  • Developing specifications for the project's needed equipment;

  • Ensuring the project's compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, regulatory requirements and specifications;

  • Conducting engineering reviews, designs and estimates in area of electrical engineering;

  • Preparing electrical & instrumentation schematics and ensure quality delivery that meets internal and external quality standards;

  • Specifying electrical & instrumentation components for purchase;

  • Programming and commissioning PLC and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS);

  • Develop electrical maintenance tactics, including standard work instructions (or similar), maintenance plans, task lists, Bill of Materials (BOMs), conduct internal review of documentation, technical support to team, etc.;

  • Provide design and technical expertise input in plant and electrical equipment design specifications and documentation for client construction and commissioning projects;

  • Participating in a multi-disciplinary environment in determining the electrical requirements;

  • Verifying accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility;

  • Travelling to mining sites, and client facilities as needed to support project requirements, and provide execution oversight, as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience;

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) status in good standings with the Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Newfoundland & Labrador (PEGNL) association or similar provincial association within Canada;

  • A strong safety mindset and ability to follow work procedures;

  • A positive attitude and the ability to clearly communicate with colleagues and customers;

  • A high degree of comfort with the Microsoft Office Suite, including collaboration tools like Teams;

  • Strong working knowledge of instrumentation & electrical design;

  • Experience with ETAP or similar electrical modelling software would be an asset;

  • Sense of urgency and good organizational skills are required to work with multiple projects and conflicting priorities;

  • The ability to work productively on your own without needing someone to chase you down to meet your commitments;

  • Relevant experience in maintenance planning and/or asset management role;

  • Experience with SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) would be an asset;

  • Understanding of Operations and Maintenance practices in an industrial production environment is considered an asset;

  • Familiarity with PDF editing software such as Adobe DC, Bluebeam, etc, considered an asset;

  • Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Microstation, etc, considered an asset.
